Everything is ‘off’…
First few days of building, everything feels a bit ‘off’. My primary ‘off’ is probably just moving over to the inch-system rather than using the metric system. Sounds as it wouldn’t be such a hard thing – and it isn’t. But all the tools in my garage are metric system based. So finding the tools I needed was obviously not the most intuitive task in the start.
More over, I’d say that it takes some time to know that what you are doing is the correct way to do it. Maybe you never get to the point of knowing what you’re doing, but now.. in the process of understanding what I’m supposed to do, everything is a bit uncertain. But – I need to just be OK with that for now.
Doing things for the first time
So – Counter sinking for the first time. Have never done it before, and not a big deal, but at the same time I’m having the exact same feeling from yesterday. Not really knowing that what I produced is good enough. As far as I can see and understand – it all looks as if the counter sunk holes are good. I will need to check with second set of eyes in the coming days so that I can get som feedback.
Deburring which I heard so much about. Feels totally fine now, but I might be as sick of it as everybody out there talking about it in the end. We’ll see.
Regarding final drilling. It seems as this task is not really needed for the holes which are about the correct size initially, but there may be (as far as I’ve read so far) holes that needs to be resized, and then the final drilling comes to play. For now – I test every hole to see it final drilling is needed. Not a very hard thing to do, and makes me more comfortable afterwards at this point..
