F-1012D (Elevator Stop) was a long short story. Yes, both!
I managed to cut the piece perfectly, got it lined up nicely, drilled, final drilled, deburred, primed and all.. just to read (after I finished the part) on rv10.org that there is a Service Bulletin (direct link to the SB) in where the F-1012D should be created from another material (also) included in the Empannage Kit. I would have preferred either that Van’s sent the service bulletin in the manuals, or threw in just a not about it, or that the kit to contained only the new (altered size) angle and marked in the inventory that it replaced the previous used material/angle. But here’s room for mistake, and I took the best shot at it!
Anyway.. After making the new F-1012D, I did not read as carefully as the previous time, resulting in drilling with the wrong drillbit in two holes, messing up both F-1012D and F-1014.
That was it for the material I had. Asked Van’s about it (if there’s a chance that it was fixable with a AN3-bolt or any similar solution), but there’s no possible supported solution – so new piecec orderd, and here they were again.
Today I got to cut the F-1012D again, reading very slowly.. several times!
